A simple 5 step installation guide for Cedral Click
Facades can transform the exterior of a home and whilst it is relatively simple to install, there are many things to consider to ensure correct ventillation and insulation.
Cedral Click is the UK’s first fibre cement, flush fitting, toungue and groove external cladding material and is specified by those looking to create inspirational and visually striking developments.
In addition to its visual apperance, builders and homeowners are specifying Cedral Click due to the performance of the material. Cedral is extremely low maintenance, is resistant to rot and can stand up to the harshest of weather conditions.
Step 2:
Attach perforated closures to the top and bottom of the battens. Perforated closures should be screwed or nailed to both the top and bottom of battens and above and belw windows and doors. These are designed to protect against birds, rodents and some insects, whilst still allowing air flow through the system. Closures are available in depths of 40mm, 50mm, 70mm and 100mm to allow for coverage to external insulation.
Step 3:
Fix internal and external corner profiles and horizontal (starter) profiles. Use the horizontal starter profile at the base of the external wall and install completely level to ensure the installation of the Cedral Click panels remain perfectly parallel. There is also a window lintel profile to finish off above the window and support the next course.
Top tips for installing Cedral correctly.
At the base of the wall, a minimum 30mm clear cavity must be provided behind the Cedral Click planks with a 10mm opening at the base, head and at the windows, doors and cills. Assembly must start ay the bottom of the outside wall. Using appropriate countersuck head screws, so it doesn’t block the placement of the first plank, fit the plank onto the starter profile and fix with clips on every support. The next plank is then fitted above, using Click Clips on every batten.
The Cedral Click planks are placed with the ends against each other and always on top of an underlying supporting batten. The joint should be protected with a joint sealing strip with sufficient stiffness (we suggest a black polyethylene PE 0.5mm thick jointing stick for joints not exposed to light or UV-resistant material if they are).
Please note that the distance from the edge of the clip to the edge of the plank should not exceed 60mm. For the final plank at the top of the facade, there are two options. If the facade finishes with a whole plank, simply fix with clips. Alternatively, if the facade requires trimmed planks, fix with Cedral coloured mushroom head screws, which must be inserted perpendicular to the panel surface using an electric drill and high quality bit.
